Paul McGlonePrincipal
Aon Consulting
Paul McGlone has 15 years' experience of advising employers and pension
scheme trustees on scheme design and funding. His clients cover a range of
industries, including airlines, national newspapers, top fashion names and
casinos.
In addition to his client responsibilities, Paul is responsible for developing
new products and services for the market, which means keeping on top of all of
the current, and future, trends.

Barnett Waddingham
Paul is a Partner in Barnett Waddingham’s London office and is involved with the provision of the full range of actuarial, consultancy, investment and other strategic advice to a wide range of pension schemes.
As well as having a broad portfolio of Trustee clients Paul has particular experience in providing commercial and practical advice to scheme sponsors on the management of pension scheme risk, benefit redesign and other strategic issues.
Paul is a member of the firm’s Business Development Board. As a practicing Scheme Actuary and Consultant, he is particularly well placed to understand the needs of clients. He is keen to "break the mould" of pension consulting, speaking to clients in plain English and ensuring that they have all the information needed to make robust and informed decisions.
He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1993 having trained as an actuary with a worldwide firm of actuarial and employee benefit consultants. He then spent eight years as a partner in a specialist actuarial and benefits firm before joining Higham Group where he was head of the Actuarial Consulting & Benefits practice. Paul holds a degree in Statistics and Economics from the University of London.
David JarmanAssistant Practice Head of Actuarial
Bluefin Corporate Consulting
With over 20 years’ experience in the industry David provides all aspects of advice on corporate pensions and has a particular interest in risk reduction and planning for eventual scheme closures. He has been an integral part of developing Bluefin’s joint actuarial and investment de-risking service and flight path to closure propositions.
David is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, has previously been a member of the SPC investment committee and is Assistant Practice Head of Actuarial at Bluefin.

Jim is senior policy advisor looking after pensions and employment issues at the CBI, leading the CBI's work on pensions, the National Minimum Wage and employment relations. Jim joined the CBI in 2007, having graduated from Cambridge with an MPhil in Renaissance Literature. Jim has a first class degree in English from Durham, where he was president of the union

Andrew is a Longevity Consultant based in London, who until joining Hymans Robertson headed Aon Consulting’s London actuarial practice.
Andrew specialises in helping trustees and companies to understand the financial impact of longevity risk, and to find the best methods of managing this risk. He is also a leading contributor to the actuarial profession’s research into the longevity of pension scheme members, and sits on the Continuous Mortality Investigation’s Self-Administered Pension Schemes (SAPS) Mortality Committee. He is a regular speaker at actuarial seminars and sessional meetings.
James MullinsSenior Liability Management Specialist
Hymans Robertson
James' particular area of expertise is helping pension schemes to find
opportunities to intelligently reduce their risks on their route to a buy-out or
other self sufficiency solution.
He is responsible for compiling Hymans Robertson’s quarterly “Managing Pension
Scheme Risk” updates. James is also a regular speaker at pension conferences and
his views on buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity swaps are often quoted in the
press.
Emma WatkinsHead of Relationship Management
MetLife
Emma is responsible for developing and securing new business within the bulk
annuity market through the development and management of ongoing relationships
and enhancing MetLife Assurance’s profile within the industry. Emma has over 10
years experience in the pensions arena, where she has held positions with ACE
Europe as trustee liability insurance product manager and prior to that with
Hazell Carr Pensions Consulting and Prudential, where she had operational and
client management responsibilities for multi-disciplined operational, defined
benefit administration and pension technical areas.
Emma holds the PMI Retirement Provision Diploma and is an Ordinary Member of the
Institute (MPMI).
Jay ShahPartner

Jay was previously at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an actuarial adviser and then as Director in the Corporate Finance unit. He joined Prudential in 2003 as Corporate Development Director and led Prudential’s innovations in the large bulk annuity transfer market prior to setting up a separate bulk annuity venture, Synesis Life, which is now part of Pension Corporation. Jay has 20 years of experience in the financial services sector having qualified as an actuary in 1991.
